“Good architecture doesn’t have to be ostentatious and nor should it stick out like a sore thumb. A home for a retired couple, Bendalong Beach House is visually impressive but assimilates perfectly with the environment, neighbouring residences and the tight-knit community it’s located in.”
An extraordinary project where the Sanders Construction Projects team had the opportunity to knock down and rebuild a forever home that our clients at Bendalong NSW, could enjoy in their retirement.
This architecturally designed beach home had very detailed and distinctive characteristics, and its deceptively simple lines actually created sophisticated and edgy design features. Achieving this elegant, yet timeless simplicity required an experienced builder that was willing to think outside the box and anticipate and mitigate any issues that could arise and compromise the outcome of this stunning home. The result needed to be nothing less than perfect!
This single-storey pavilion is composed of 4 Bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a large open plan kitchen, dining and living area completely openable to the outside. Every space of this home was created to be humble and uncomplicated, creating an honest and seamless connection with nature and the beautiful landscapes of this location, while also being able to be private and highly functional to provide accommodation to guests.
To bring to life this amazing home design, we knew it was imperative to collaborate closely with both the clients and the architect to make sure the final outcome was exactly what they had in mind, and ultimately fulfilling and exceeding our clients’ needs and expectations.
Constant communication and deep understanding of every aspect of the project and its parameters allowed us to completely immerse ourselves in the design and deliver the perfect final result that is evident in the photos of this beach home.
Timber, burnished concrete, neutral colours and natural light is what immediately delight the sight and catch the attention in this coastal home. Still, there are so many inherent details that complete this masterpiece such as tesla PV panels that supply the house’s power, Blackbutt feature wall cladding, James Hardie Scyon Axon Cladding and AWS Windows and Doors Systems.
Additionally, some of the special features that this unique home included were a solid custom run blackbutt wall with 3 concealed seamless doors for storage, a custom-designed timber dowel and steel-framed openable screening, concealed structural beams supporting the roof from above with minimal walls and a custom-designed gutter system that is self-supporting and achieves required drainage while still appearing to be level.
An efficient heat pump that runs the in-slab heating as well as the hot water to the property, complete and add comfort to this project, making it perfect for our clients!
We realised this home design had an uncompromising architectural vision, so to fully achieve it, we kept in close communication with the architect throughout the project. This communication and work had to be done remotely, but it didn’t stop us from nailing a great collaboration with her.
Some of the other challenges associated with the construction of this project were creating a roof design that still operated efficiently while meeting the design and aesthetic brief. Another challenge was achieving precise alignments for all windows and doors as these units needed to be accurately and individually dimensioned at their maximum allowable size limits.
Despite these challenges, our team worked hard and gave their 110% on every detail to ensure the home design was utterly fulfilled and that our clients were incredibly satisfied with their forever home!
The exceptional attention to detail and quality craftsmanship is evident in every space of this home! The design and construction of this project provided the client with exactly what they were looking for, a beautiful home with open spaces, clean lines and delightful finishes that make it the perfect sanctuary for their retirement!
Looking back at this building journey we recently completed, we are definitely most proud of how this entire project was a massive collaborative effort from our incredibly talented team and subcontractors. Plus it was a real pleasure to work with these clients as they made this process so easy and enjoyable! We couldn’t be happier about how this home turned out, and we hope you love it as much as we do!
